Disney hires writer for ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 5’

Johnny Depp is back on board and it's rumoured that Orlando Bloom could return too

The next instalment in the Pirates Of The Caribbean series is now moving forward.

According to Variety, Disney has hired screenwriter Jeff Nathanson to pen the script. Nathanson’s previous credits include Catch Me If You Can, Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3.

Johnny Depp is back on board and is rumoured to be earning £60m for his fifth appearance as Captain Jack Sparrow. He famously based the character on Keith Richards, who endorsed his performance by playing Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague, in the last two Pirates movies.

At present, plot details for Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 are under wraps and Depp’s co-stars are unconfirmed. Back in September (2012), it was reported that Orlando Bloom could be returning to the franchise after he sat out the last instalment, 2011’s On Stranger Tides.

The four previous movies have grossed a collective $3.7 billion (£2.3 billion) worldwide, making Pirates Of The Caribbean the fifth biggest film franchise ever.
