Helmed by first-time director Peter Landesman, Parkland follows the chaotic chain of events that occurred in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 after President Kennedy was fatally shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. It’s based on the acclaimed book Four Days In November by Vincent Bugliosi.
Billy Bob Thornton stars as the head of Dallas’ Secret Service, Paul Giamatti (pictured right) is the cameraman who captured the incident, and Zac Efron and Marcia Gay Harden play a doctor and nurse at Parkland Hospital, where President Kennedy was rushed to following the shooting.
The strong ensemble cast also features Jacki Weaver, who appears as Oswald’s beleaguered mother, as well as Jackie Earle Haley, James Badge Dale and Tom Welling.
Parkland, whose producers include Tom Hanks, is set to premiere at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival before opening in US cinemas on October 4. The UK release follows shortly after on November 8.
