Edgar Wright has shared a playlist of his favourite movie soundtrack moments

50 movies are featured in his round-up

Edgar Wright has put together a playlist of his favourite film soundtrack songs.

50 movies are featured throughout his picks, which include musical films such as Prince’s Purple Rain, Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour and The Blues Brothers. Other artists featured include Van Morrison, the Beach Boys, Talking Heads, David Bowie, and Carly Simon.

Wright shared the playlist on Twitter as well as the full list of all the movies featured. See those tweets and listen to the playlist below.

Earlier this week, Baby Driver was announced as the winner of Best Film supported by Zig-Zag at the VO5 NME Awards 2018.

As he accepted the award via video message, Edgar Wright wielded a banana and explained how the inspiration for the film had initially come to him at a tube station.

The video also featured an unlikely cameo from Beck, who appeared in the background.

Released last summer, the Edgar Wright-directed movie stars Ansel Elgort as Baby, a getaway driver forced to do a creepy crime boss’s dirty work. It won acclaim for its soundtrack, which featured the likes of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Queen, and Adam & Dave.

In December, Wright revealed that talks are “already in the works” for Baby Driver 2 and that “the deal is being hammered out as we speak”.

“Hopefully, I’m going to at least write a second one,” he added. “I’ve definitely got lots of ideas. Whether it’s the next movie, I don’t know. I’m just working that out at the moment, actually. I have a couple of things that I’ve been developing, and also a couple of new ideas that I had, and all the nice things that I’ve been offered since”.

Wright also said that he’s keen to start work on his next project as soon as possible: “I would like to get back on the saddle very shortly, because – slightly beyond my control – but there was four years between The World’s End and Baby Driver. I don’t want it to be that long again. I would love to have a film out in the next two years”.
