Emma Watson pays tribute to Harry Potter actor Dave Legeno

Actor and MMA fighter died of heat stroke while hiking in Death Valley, California

Emma Watson has led tributes to Harry Potter actor Dave Legeno, who was found dead in California last week.

The actor and MMA fighter, pictured to the right of the main photograph, appeared as Fenrir Greyback in three of the Harry Potter films alongside Watson. He was found dead by walkers in Death Valley, California last week, where he’d himself been walking. A post-mortem revealed the cause of death was heatstroke, and he may have been dead for three or four days before being found. Local police said they suspected no foul play.

Watson, who starred in the Potter series as Hermione Granger, paid tribute to Legeno on her Twitter page, saying:

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the film series, also posted a number of messages to his Twitter and Instragram pages.

Legeno worked as a doorman and wrestler before landing his first acting role in Guy Ritchie’s Snatch, before going on to appear in Batman Begins, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince and both instalments of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. He was 50.

Death Valley in California is among the hottest, driest places on earth. It is 282ft below sea level, and daily temperatures often reach 49 degrees Celsius, with the hottest-ever recorded temperature there 56.7 degrees.
