The film is based on the true story of a teenage clique who burgled Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan
The first trailer for Sofia Coppola‘s new movie The Bling Ring has been released. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch it.
The film is based on the true story of a clique of LA teenagers who used the internet to track the movements of celebrities so they could burgle their houses while they were away. Between October 2008 and August 2009, the real life ‘Bling Ring’ is estimated to have stolen around $3 million (£2 million) in cash and belongings.
Rumoured victims include Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson and Paris Hilton, who gamely makes a cameo in Coppola’s movie.
Coppola’s film stars former Harry Potter actress Emma Watson as one of the light-fingered teenagers and This Is 40‘s Leslie Mann as her mother. Meanwhile, Bush’s Gavin Rossdale plays a club promoter who helps the thieving teens to hide their loot. All appear in the one-minute teaser clip, which sets scenes from the film to ‘Crown On The Ground’ by Sleigh Bells.
The Bling Ring is Coppola’s fifth film as writer-director following The Virgin Suicides, Lost In Translation, Marie Antoinette and Somewhere. The film arrives in US cinemas on June 14 but there is no UK release date yet.
