Nick Cave features in an exclusive clip from the documentary 20,000 Days on Earth.

The film is previewed at cinemas across the UK tonight (September 17) with a live link to a gala screening at the Barbican in London where Nick Cave will perform live. The documentary goes on general release from Friday September 19.

In the clip, Cave and Bad Seeds band member Warren Ellis discuss seeing Nina Simone perform live. Cave remembers: “Before she started playing she took the chewing gum out of her mouth and just stuck it on the piano!” Ellis recalls her post-performance request for “some champagne, some cocaine and some sausages”.

20,000 Days on Earth follows Bad Seeds’ frontman Cave through a ‘day in the life’. Shot by directors Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth it blends fact with fiction and also features the singer driving around his adopted Brighton homewtown with Kylie Minogue and Ray Winstone.

This evening (September 17) the live event from the Barbican in London will be beamed into 150 cinemas across the UK followed by a unique live experience and Q&A with Nick Cave, directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard and special guests. Tickets to a screening near you are available via Picturehouse Entertainment.
