Exclusive ‘Terminator Genisys’ clip: Lee Byung-hun discusses causing trouble for Sarah Connor

Lee Byung-hun plays the T-1000 robot assassin in the forthcoming fifth 'Terminator' film

A new featurette from Terminator Genisys has premiered today, exclusively on NME.com – watch it below.

Genisys, the fifth instalment in the Terminator series, sees Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the iconic title role for the first time since 2003. He is joined by Game Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, who takes on the role of Sarah Connor made famous by Linda Hamilton, as well as by Whiplash‘s JK Simmons, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, former Doctor Who star Matt Smith and G.I. Joe‘s Lee Byung-hun.

In the exclusive featurette, Byung-hun explains how his character, the T-1000 robot assassin, causes trouble for Clarke’s Sarah Connor in the new movie.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) directs Terminator Genisys from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). The film was shot between April and August of last year (2014) in New Orleans and San Francisco, using an estimated production budget of $170 million (£110 million). James Cameron, director of the first two Terminator movies, has recently endorsed Genisys, saying: “I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance.”

Terminator Genisys is set to open in UK cinemas on July 2. The franchise’s last instalment, Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, opened in 2009 to poor reviews and performed relatively disappointingly at the box office worldwide. Bale admitted last year that his Terminator film “didn’t work”.

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger appeared to confirm in February that he’ll be back for a sixth Terminator film due to start shooting in 2016.
