A 60-second clip from the car chase sequel premiered during the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 3), but the new trailer adds over two minutes of previously unseen footage. It includes a closer look at new character Jessica “JJ” Jameson, played by Haywire star Gina Carano (pictured right).
The trailer also features Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris, who have all reprised their roles from previous films in the series, and British actor Luke Evans, who joins the cast as a villain called Owen Shaw. Fast & Furious 6 was shot from July to December last year (2012) in various locations worldwide including London, Liverpool and Glasgow.
Earlier this month (February 2013), an official plot synopsis was released by Universal Pictures. It reveals the usual F&F crew reunite to thwart a criminal outfit led by Luke Evans’ Owen Shaw character. If successful, the gang will earn their pardons and be able to return safely to their families.
Fast & Furious 6 opens in cinemas worldwide on May 24. The five previous F&F films came out between 2001 and 2011 and collectively grossed over $1.5 billion (£950 million) worldwide.
