She will join Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman in superhero mash-up
Fast & Furious 6 actress Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in the forthcoming Man Of Steel sequel, it has been confirmed.
Gadot, a previous winner of the Miss Israel competition, will take on the role opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, although it is yet to be confirmed whether she’ll play the superhero warrior princes from the Amazon or her alter-ego Diana Prince.
Speaking about her casting, director Zack Snyder told Variety: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
Director Zack Snyder will start shooting ‘Batman Vs Superman’ in Michigan early next year (2014). Alongside Cavill as Superman and Affleck as Batman, Amy Adams is confirmed to be returning as Lois Lane and her Man Of Steel castmates Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne have also inked deals to reprise their roles. Warner Bros has given the film – whose official title has yet to be confirmed – a release date of July 17, 2015.
