First ‘Paddington’ trailer revealed – watch

Colin Firth will play much-loved bear known for his love of marmalade sandwiches

The first trailer for the live action film Paddington has been revealed – click below to watch.

Colin Firth will voice the popular character known for his love of marmalade sandwiches, who was originally created by Michael Bond. Paddington himself will be brought to life by CGI but, according to Firth, the rest of the film’s characters will be played by “real, live, human beings”.

Nicole Kidman has signed up to play an unspecified villain and Julie Walters will appear as Mrs Bird, housekeeper to Paddington’s adoptive family the Browns. Meanwhile, Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) and Sally Hawkins (Made In Dagenham) have been cast as Mr and Mrs Brown.

The Paddington Bear film is being produced by David Heyman, who helped bring the Harry Potter books to the big screen, while Paul King (The Mighty Boosh, Bunny And The Bull) is on board as director. It will open in UK cinemas on November 28, 2014.
