The Kenneth Branagh-directed live action film also stars 'Downton Abbey' actress Lily James
Richard Madden, who plays Robb Stark in Game Of Thrones, has been cast as the prince in Disney’s live action version of Cinderella.
Madden, who can currently be seen starring in the third season of the hit HBO fantasy drama, has signed on to appear in the film alongside Downton Abbey actress Lily James, who will play the titular role.
Kenneth Branagh is set to direct from a script by Chris Weitz, whose previous screenwriting credits include About A Boy, Antz and The Golden Compass. Cate Blanchett has already signed up to play the wicked stepmother.
According to Hollywood Reporter, a live action version of Cinderella was first mooted in the wake of the studio’s success with Tim Burton’s Alice And Wonderland, which starred Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Filming is due to begin in London in the autumn.
Last month, HBO confirmed that Game Of Thrones will definitely return for a new run of episodes in 2014. The fantasy drama, based on the novels by George RR Martin, has been a major hit for HBO since it debuted in 2011. It also holds the unfortunate honour of being the most pirated TV show on the internet.
