‘Girls’ actor Adam Driver denies ‘Batman vs. Superman’ rumours

Actor had been linked with Robin role in superhero mash-up

Girls actor Adam Driver has denied rumours that he is being lined-up to play Robin in the sequel to Man Of Steel.

Last week, reports had suggested that Driver would take on the role of Batman’s former sidekick Robin aka Dick Grayson, who would be working on his own in the film under the name Nightwing. Ben Affleck has already been cast as Gotham’s Caped Crusader, while Henry Cavill is set to reprise his role as Superman.

However, speaking to Collider, Driver – who plays the part of Lena Dunham’s character Hannah Horvath’s boyfriend Adam in Girls and will next be seen in the Coen Brothers’ forthcoming folk music movie Inside Llewyn Davis – said he had no conversations about a possible role in Batman vs. Superman. “Not that I know of no,” he replied when asked if he would star in the film. “If you find out, let me know, then I’ll know.”

However, Driver did admit he would be keen on the part, adding: “That’s like intensely flattering, as you can imagine. It’s Batman and Superman… who doesn’t want to be involved in something not only of that scale but of who those characters are? That’s an incredible world to be able to be in for a bit. Like who wouldn’t want to do that?”

Director Zack Synder is due to start shooting Superman vs. Batman next year and Warner Bros also announced in the press release that a release date of July 17, 2015 has been set. Amy Adams will be returning as Lois Lane and fellow Man Of Steel cast members Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne have officially signed up to reprise their roles too.
