Ben Affleck is set to play Batman in the 'Man Of Steel' sequel alongside Henry Cavill's Superman
‘Girls’ actor Adam Driver is rumoured to be playing the part of Robin in the sequel to Man Of Steel.
Ben Affleck is to play Batman in the movie, Batman vs. Superman, however, in the film he will be estranged from this former sidekick Robin aka Dick Grayson, who is working on his own under the name Nightwing, reports The Wrap. Adam Driver plays the part of Lena Dunham’s character Hannah Horvath’s boyfriend Adam in the HBO series and will next be seen in the Coen Brothers’ forthcoming folk music movie Inside Llewyn Davis.
Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in July that Batman will join Henry Cavill‘s Superman in his forthcoming sequel – and dropped a heavy hint that the two won’t see eye to eye. It was then rumoured that Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin were in the running to play Bruce Wayne aka Batman, while another report claimed that Christian Bale had been offered £40 million to reprise his role from The Dark Knight trilogy.
However, it is two-time Oscar winner Affleck who will square up to Cavill’s Superman in what Warner Bros is billing as an “original vision of Batman” and “an entirely new incarnation of the character”.
Snyder is due to start shooting the Superman-meets-Batman match-up movie next year and Warner Bros also announced in the press release that a release date of July 17, 2015 has been set. Amy Adams will be returning as Lois Lane and fellow Man Of Steel cast members Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne have officially signed up to reprise their roles too.
