Homeland is to return with Damian Lewis‘s Brody as the “world’s most wanted terrorist”, US network Showtime has revealed.
The network has released an official plot synopsis for the third season of its acclaimed spy drama, which stars Claire Danes as an unstable CIA officer and Lewis as the troubled war veteran she harbours feelings for. Comprising 12 episodes, the new season premieres in the US on September 29 and will air in the UK on Channel 4 shortly afterwards.
Showtime’s plot synopsis teases: “Homeland season three opens during the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that decimated the US intelligence apparatus, and prompted a global manhunt for the world’s most wanted terrorist – Nick Brody (Damian Lewis).
“As Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody’s whereabouts.”
Since beginning in 2011, Homeland has been a hit with viewers and critics alike. Earlier this year, the show beat Breaking Bad and Mad Men to win the Best TV Drama award at the Golden Globes.
