Sci-fi comedy sequel opens in cinemas on February 25 next year
A new trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 has been released.
Craig Robinson (Nick), Clark Duke (Jacob), Rob Corddry (Lou), Chevy Chase (Repairman) and Kellee Stewart (Courtney) have all reprised their roles from the original sci-fi comedy film, joined by Parks and Recreation‘s Adam Scott, who fills in for John Cusack after the latter declined to return as Adam Yates.
The plot synopsis for the sequel teases: “When Lou, who has become the ‘father of the Internet’, is shot by an unknown assailant, Jacob and Nick fire up the time machine again to save their friend.”
The original film’s director Steve Pink returned to shoot the sequel, which has a script from the same writing trio who penned the first film: Josh Heald, Sean Anders and John Morris. Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is scheduled to open in cinemas on February 25 next year.
Released in 2010, the original Hot Tub Time Machine wasn’t a huge hit at the box office, but has since built up a cult following after amassing strong sales on Blu-ray and DVD.
