John Malkovich, Billy Bob Thornton also star in Matt Shakman's big-screen directorial debut
Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth has been cast in the upcoming thriller Cut Bank.
The actor joins John Malkovich, Billy Bob Thornton, Teresa Palmer, Bruce Dern, Oliver Platt and Michael Stuhlbarg in Matt Shakman’s (Mad Men, Six Feet Under) big-screen directorial debut, reports Deadline.
Cut Bank, written by Sons Of Anarchy‘s Roberto Patino, centres on Dwayne McLaren (Hemsworth), a washed-up athlete turned car mechanic who dreams of escaping Cut Bank, the coldest town in the US. However, his attempts at getting out of the town sets in motion a series of deadly events, changing his life and the town forever. Production began in Edmonton, Canada last week.

The film sees Adam Cassidy (Hemsworth) as a young go-getter struggling to look after his sick father, who becomes seduced by wealth and stature. When his boss Nicholas Wyatt (Oldman) orders him to spy on his rival Jock Goddard (Ford), Cassidy finds himself stuck in the middle of a dangerous game.
Paranoia, directed by Robert Luketic, is out in US theatres on August 16, but no UK release date has been set yet.
