The 17-second teaser has been released by Marvel ahead of the movie’s first full-length trailer, which is due to arrive online at 8.01am GMT on Tuesday (October 23 2012).
Iron Man 3 began shooting in North Carolina this June (2012). It will be Robert Downey Jr‘s fourth outing as Tony Stark, a billionaire inventor who creates a powered suit of armour and turns himself into a superhero. The actor previously played Stark in 2008’s Iron Man, 2010’s Iron Man 2 and 2012’s The Avengers.
The new sequel sees Stark do battle with an enemy called The Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley. Earlier this month (October 20120, an official plot synopsis was released, promising that Stark will finally find an answer to “the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”
Back in August (2012), Downey Jr injured his ankle while shooting a stunt, causing Marvel to postpone production for around six weeks. However, filming resumed on October 1, and the sequel is still on course for its May 2013 release.
Alongside Downey Jr and Kingsley, Iron Man 3 will feature Gwyneth Paltrow‘s fourth appearance as the memorably-named Pepper Potts. The film’s ensemble cast is rounded off by Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall and James Badge Dale.
