Actor reveals that he and director Richard Linklater are planning a film about professional bowling

Jack Black has revealed plans to reunite with School Of Rock director Richard Linklater for a new movie set in the world of professional bowling.

The pair famously teamed up on 2003’s School Of Rock, in which Black played a struggling rock singer pretending to be a supply teacher at a prep school. Plans for a sequel were announced in 2008, but Black has since confirmed that this “wasn’t meant to be”.

However, Black and Linklater recently reunited for Bernie, a dark comedy starring Black as a gay mortician who murders a rich local widow, played by Shirley MacLaine. Bernie was recently released on Blu-Ray and you can watch the trailer below.

Now Black has revealed that he and Linklater are planning a third big screen collaboration. He told the LA Times: “It’s about a guy who gives up everything to be a professional bowler.” The film will be based on a real-life professional bowler, but Black refused to reveal his name.

Meanwhile, Black is about to embark on a European tour with Tenacious D, which will include five dates in the UK and Ireland, beginning at the Brighton Centre on October 18. Linklater recently finished shooting Before Midnight, a sequel to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, a pair of acclaimed indie rom-coms starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke.
