The R-rated black comedy stars Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine as a posse of college student who rob a restaurant to pay for their holiday to Florida. While partying in the sunshine state, they get busted for drugs and become embroiled with a dodgy dealer played by James Franco.
Rapper Gucci Mane has a supporting role in the movie and contributes to the soundtrack, which also features new music from Skrillex. The dubstep producer’s track ‘Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites’ can be heard in the trailer.
Spring Breakers was written and directed by enfant terrible filmmaker Harmony Korine, who made his name scripting 1995’s Kids, a sexually explicit indie flick starring Chloe Sevigny and Rosario Dawson.
After premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September (2012), Spring Breakers became a hot topic online thanks to its provocative combination of drugs, guns and girls in bikinis. The film opens in cinemas on March 29 in the US and April 5 in the UK.
