James Franco in ‘Batman’ meets ‘Beetlejuice’ mash-up – watch

'This is the End' star launches online project 'Making a Scene with James Franco'

Filmmaker James Franco has launched Making a Scene With James Franco, a new project of online movie mash-ups.

Including Batman meets Beetlejuice homage Batjuice, the 10-episode web series riffs on classic movie scenes in a range of sketches.

Variety reports Franco took on the artistic challenge when commissioned by AOL to combine two films and make something new.

Franco asked fans for their favourite movie scenes then put the options on a spinning wheel to randomize the choices. “I like this idea of giving up some control,” he said.

The actor added: “We knew in the very least these would end up being weird. They ended up being really funny – unintentionally.”

Other episodes in the series include a silent movie version of Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, The Shining reimagined as rom-com Here’s Jimmy! and a combination of Dirty Dancing and Reservoir Dogs.

Other films due to receive the remix treatment in future episodes include The Godfather, Titanic and Twilight.

Franco has recently acquired the film rights to ‘Fight Club’ author Chuck Palahniuk’s ‘Rant’. He will play “a murderous demolition driver who takes part in the Party Crashing derby in a world where people intentionally crash into each other violently to feel, and create a vivid reality of the experience”.
