Jamie Foxx rescues man from burning truck

"It's rare these days that you find someone willing to help like that," says local fire department

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx has been hailed as “courageous” after rescuing a man from a burning truck.

When a road accident took place near Foxx’s home in Ventura County, California last night (January 19), the actor leapt in to ensure the driver was free from the blazing vehicle.

“I don’t look at it as heroic. I just look at it as… you just had to do something,” Foxx told CNN affiliate KCAL after the incident.

However, Mike Lindbery of Ventura County Fire Department heaped praise on Foxx’s actions, saying: “It was a pretty courageous thing to do. It’s rare these days that you find someone willing to jump in to help like that.”

Foxx has since shared a picture on Instagram in which he is seen hugging the father of the driver, the sole passenger in the car at the time of the accident. Brett Kyle, 32, is expected to remain in hospital for some time as he recovers from burns and major head, chest and neck trauma.

“Met the father of the young man from last night today,” Fox wrote in the post’s caption. “This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.”
