Jared Leto has admitted that he felt “isolated” on the set of Suicide Squad.
Leto plays the role of The Joker in the new film, which is in cinemas now. The supervillain isn’t a part of the eponymous Squad, meaning that The Joker doesn’t feature alongside a number of the film’s other cast-members.
Asked about how it felt to be playing a character who operates outside of the film’s main cast, Leto said that filming his scenes as The Joker felt “contained.”
“For this film it was kind of easy, because my work was all with Harley [Margot Robbie], so it was of contained and isolated from the rest of the cast,” the 44-year-old said. “But it did set up a dynamic with the other characters because they’re all in the Squad and The Joker is kind of on the outside, so I was isolated [while the rest of the cast] really bonded. [It was like] I was off in the corner of the cafeteria watching all the other kids.”
