Jim Carrey flies to Ireland for former girlfriend Cathriona White’s funeral

White was found dead on September 28 of an apparent suicide

Jim Carrey has arrived in Ireland to attend the funeral of his former girlfriend Cathriona White.

White, 30, who was born in Ireland, was found dead at a residential home in Los Angeles on September 28. Though the official cause of death has yet to be determined, police have said that evidence at the scene pointed to a suicide.

Carrey and White began dating in 2012 after meeting on a film set. Though the couple split in late 2013, it is understood that they reunited earlier this year before recently parting ways again.

White’s funeral takes place on Saturday (October 10) in her hometown of Cappawhite in County Tipperary.

Responding to the news, Carrey said last month: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”

“My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her,” he added. “We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”

White, who worked as a makeup artist in the Los Angeles area, posted a final post to Twitter before her death. It read: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”
