'Bridesmaids' actress is reportedly in talks to star in follow-up to 2004 comedy classic
Kristen Wiig is being lined up for a role in the sequel to Anchorman.
The Bridesmaids star is currently being courted to appear in Paramount’s Ron Burgundy follow-up Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
Wiig would play opposite Steve Carell as a love interest for his intellectually-challenged character Brick Tamland, according to The Wrap.
Adam McKay is returning to direct the follow-up to the 2004 comedy classic, with Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate all signed on to reprise their roles. McKay has previously revealed teasers about the plot, saying: “I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll just give a couple of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I’ll give you that. I’ll give you another one: bowling for dollars.”
Wiig herself first found fame on Saturday Night Live, but became a global star after she co-wrote and starred in Bridesmaids, which became the breakout comedy hit of last year. She could recently be seen at the Toronto International Film Festival in indie film Imogene, and has been busy filming a number of titles, including The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty and Hateship Friendship alongside Guy Pearce.
