Actor talks 'Superman vs Batman' project
Man Of Steel actor Henry Cavill has said that Ben Affleck will be “fantastic” in the forthcoming Superman vs Batman film.
The sequel to Man Of Steel will see the two superheroes collide, with Cavill set to reprise his role as Clark Kent while Affleck will take on the role of Gotham’s vigilante crime fighter. His casting has proved controversial in some quarters, with a petition started by fans to remove him from the role collecting over 30,000 signatures.
Talking to Total Film, however, Cavill said: “I’m sure he’ll be fantastic, above all else. As a filmmaker he’s got his own style, he’s not copying anyone else. He’s been tenacious in his career, he’s had ups followed by downs and now he’s up again.
He added: “I think that requires and shows a special strength of character and it’s something I enjoy working with because jobs like this require a dedication to the work and belief in one’s self, and Ben has that.”
Director Zack Snyder will start shooting Batman v Superman in Michigan early next year (2014). Alongside Cavill as Superman and Affleck as Batman, Amy Adams is confirmed to be returning as Lois Lane and her Man Of Steel castmates Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne have also inked deals to reprise their roles. Warner Bros has given the film – whose official title has yet to be confirmed – a release date of July 17, 2015.
