Margot Robbie wants a Harley Quinn and The Joker spin-off of ‘Suicide Squad’

The actress said there's "so much more to do" with the characters

Margot Robbie has said that she wants to see a Suicide Squad spin-off featuring Harley Quinn and The Joker happen.

The actress wants to explore the relationship between her character and that of Jared Leto in a separate film.

“There’s just so much more to do,” she told Tipsy Talk.

Leto’s character only features in Suicide Squad for a short amount of time – something that fans, critics and Leto alike have commented on since the film’s release.

Robbie said she didn’t know why so many of Leto’s scenes were cut, but that she thought the filmmakers were trying to create a coherent narrative.

Earlier this week, Leto also spoke of a Joker spin-off, saying he would like to continue playing the villain.

Speaking to NME ahead of the film’s release, Leto revealed was open to the possibility of a separate spin-off film that centred around the antagonist.

“Yes, I think that would be great to dive in deeper to The Joker and expand the story, and to learn more about this sick and twisted – but lovely – strange man,” Leto said. “I’d like to see more of The Joker in Suicide Squad 2: we shot so much footage; there are so many scenes that aren’t in the film. I haven’t seen the movie yet, so I don’t know what’s been cut and what’s not, but I understand [this Suicide Squad film] is a bit of an introduction to The Joker.

“It’s more of a supporting part than it could have been, had they used everything – but there’s a method to [the filmmakers’] madness.”

Pushed on whether that meant that Leto had signed on to do any further Suicide Squad or Joker projects, Leto was hopeful about the prospect of playing the role again.

“I mean it really depends on the response. If people respond to this Joker and they have a good time with this version of The Joker then I can imagine him coming back. But if not, I’ll just go live in a fucking cave somewhere.”
