Luke Skywalker actor tweets following table read in London with fellow actors
Star Wars Episode VII actor Mark Hamill has praised his “superb” cast mates following the first table read of the new film.
As reported earlier this week, director, JJ Abrams has brought together Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original films, as well as Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher alongside newcomers Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis.
A tweet sent by Hamill today (May 1) saw the actor full of praise for the newly assembled cast, who are currently in London ahead of filming the seventh instalment of the much loved franchise at London’s Pinewood studios later this month. The actor reassured fans that “the saga is in superb hands.”
UK table read- I was knocked out by the diverse & extraordinarily talented new cast members. WOW they’re good! The saga is in superb hands.

Meanwhile, the character of Chewbacca has now been confirmed to be making an appearance in the new Star Wars film. Suspicion of the character’s involvement in the new movie came when Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca in the first Star Wars trilogy and Revenge Of The Sith, cancelled a convention appearance because of filming this May.
Star Wars Episode VII will open in cinemas in December 2015.
