Is Marvel going to make an all-female ensemble movie?

"Marvel is hugely collaborative"

Marvel star Tessa Thompson has opened up on the distinct possibility of creating an all-female ensemble movie.

Thompson, who made her debut as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok conceded that she “can’t make it happen”, but Marvel boss Kevin Feige is reportedly keen on embracing a female-led future for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Marvel is hugely collaborative,” she told IGN.

“I think even our Thor movie was basically the product of conversations they’d had with Chris [Hemsworth] and with Mark [Ruffalo] about what they wanted to do next.”

“There’s an interest in having women at the forefront of this phase. I feel like it’s hopeful,” she said

Describing the possibility of a female-led movie, she added: “Who knows?”

After first appearing as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok, Thompson will reprise the role of Valkyrie in Avengers: Infinity War, which hits cinemas in April.

Meanwhile, Black Panther was released in UK cinemas earlier this week, and quickly became one of Marvel’s most critically acclaimed offerings to date.

NME’s official verdict stated: “After a wait of far too long, it needed to make its moment count, to be a beginning and not an ending. It’s not just good. It’s the best Marvel movie yet.”
