'Doctor who' actor will appear in 'Terminator: Genesis' and next two movies

Doctor Who actor has landed a role in the forthcoming Terminator trilogy.

Deadline reports that the British actor will make a small appearance in Terminator: Genesis, the first of three Terminator films, with his role expanding in the next two instalments.

It is believed that Smith represents a “major piece” of the cast for the films, which are being directed by Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor and will see Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his iconic role as the cyborg T-800. The film will intersect with the plot of the original 1984 movie and is due for release in July 2015.

Meanwhile, Smith recently denied rumours linking him to a role in the BBC1 drama Sherlock.

Rumours that Smith could play a part in a future series of the BBC1 programme began earlier this year after creator Stephen Moffat said he would not rule out a role for Smith, who auditioned for the role of John Watson prior to Martin Freeman landing the role. However, Smith said he believes the show has “enough peculiar English men” already and does not need him.
