Michael Fassbender to play ‘eccentric’ rock star in new movie

Actor cast as the frontman in an 'eccentric' rock band in an upcoming film called 'Frank'

Michael Fassbender is to play a fictional rock star in a new movie called Frank.

According to Variety, Fassbender has been cast as the frontman in an “eccentric rock band”. The plot will follow a naive young musician, played by up-and-coming Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, who finds himself overwhelmed when he joins Fassbender’s rock posse.

Frank, which will be co-financed by Film4 and the Irish Film Board, has a script by Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan, who previously worked together on The Men Who Stare At Goats. The rock-themed film will be helmed by emerging Irish director Lenny Abrahamson.
