It has been reported that Michelle Williams is in talks to portray Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic film.
Director Sean Durkin (Martha, Southcliffe) is working on a movie about the legendary singer-songwriter based on Love, Janis, a biography of Joplin published by the late musician’s sister.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Michelle Williams is in talks to land the role. It is thought that Renee Zellweger, Amy Adams and Zooey Deschanel were all previously considered for the part.
The film has been in the works for over a decade and isn’t the only cinematic project to feature Joplin. Amy Adams is also set to portray Joplin in a rival movie called Get It While You Can.
