Jackman's 'X-Men' spin-off movie is due for release this July
A brand new picture of Hugh Jackman in his X-Men spin-off movie The Wolverine has been released. It appears at the top of this article.
The brooding image was uploaded to the film’s Facebook page with the intriguing caption: “The past is always behind you, but the memories still remain.”
The Wolverine was shot last year in Sydney and Japan, with Walk The Line helmer James Mangold in the director’s chair. The film, which follows Wolverine as he travels to Japan to train with a samurai warrior, is scheduled for release on July 26.
Jackman has already made five appearances as Wolverine in X-Men films, including an uncredited cameo in 2011’s X Men: First Class. Director Bryan Singer has recently confirmed that Jackman’s Wolverine will also appear in the sequel, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which begins filming this April.
Meanwhile, Jackman is competing for the best actor award at this year’s Oscars, which take place on Sunday (February 24) at the Dolby Theatre in LA. His acclaimed performance in Les Miserables has already won him a Golden Globe, but he faces stiff competition from Daniel Day-Lewis, who is firm favourite to take home the prize for his performance in Lincoln.
