Watch a brand new trailer for the horror sequel, which opens in cinemas next month
A new trailer for Paranormal Activity 4 has debuted today (September 27) – scroll down to watch it.
The 130-second teaser cuts scenes from the horror sequel with a series of ominous written messages: “The activity… is closer than you think… it has all led to this”. Paranormal Activity 4 opens in cinemas on October 17.
Released in 2009, the original Paranormal Activity film was made for just $15,000 (£9,200) and went on to make over $193 million (£119 million) at the box office worldwide. It is often described as the “most profitable movie ever made” based on return of investment.
Since then, the series has spawned a film a year, all shot in the distinctive “found footage” style of the original. Paranormal Activity 4 is actually conceived as a sequel to 2010’s Paranormal Activity 2 because the film released in between was a prequel. It picks up the action five years after the second film ended.
Paranormal Activity 4 was directed by Catfish duo Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, who also helmed the third film. There is already talk of a Paranormal Activity 5, though Schulman and Joost are yet to commit.
