Doppelgänger comedy is Ayoade's follow-up to 2010's 'Submarine'

A new trailer for The Double, Richard Ayoade from The IT Crowd‘s second film as writer-director, has been released. Watch it below.

The Double is a dark comedy based on a novella of the same name by Fyodor Dostoyevsky about a man who goes mad after finding out his life has been stolen by a doppelgänger. The Social Network actor Jesse Eisenberg stars as the man and his double, with a supporting cast that includes Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Sally Hawkins, Noah Taylor and Yasmin Paige.

Hawkins, Taylor and Paige also appeared in Ayoade’s first film as writer-director, a well-received adaptation of Joe Dunthorne’s coming-of-age novel Submarine that came out in 2010 and earned Ayoade a BAFTA nomination for outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer.

Ayoade shot The Double in London in 2012. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year, is set to open in UK cinemas on April 4, 2014.
