The former couple have one child together, a 10-year-old son
Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim, his wife of nearly 12 years, have separated.
A spokesperson for the actor told People that the couple went their separate ways in January of this year.
Cage, 52, married Kim, whom he met when she waited on his table at a Los Angeles restaurant, at a ranch in northern California in July 2004. They have one son together, 10-year-old Kal-el Coppola, who is named after Superman’s birth name.
Cage’s marriage to Alice Kim was his third. He married actress Patricia Arquette (Boyhood, Medium) in 1995, but they divorced in 2001. The following year, he married Elvis’s daughter Lisa Marie-Presley. They divorced in 2004.
Cage also has a 25-year-old son, Weston, from an earlier relationship with model Christina Fulton.
The actor, who won an Oscar for his performance in 1995’s Leaving Las Vegas, has several films slated to open in cinemas in 2016. Among them is Snowden, Oliver Stone’s biopic of Edward Snowden, in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt portrays the notorious whistleblower and Cage appears in a supporting role. It will hit cinema screens in the US on September 16, though a UK release date has yet to be announced.
