Nike are releasing self-lacing ‘Back To The Future’-themed shoes

The much-loved film enjoyed its thirtieth anniversary in December

Nike are set to release a very limited edition set of self-lacing shoes based on the Back To The Future film franchise.

The new shoes have been made in partnership with the Michael J Fox Foundation (MJFF), as they’re designed on the trainers the actor wore while playing the lead character Marty McFly in the film. The Foundation is aiming to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.

As Digital Spy reports, the Nike Mags are completed with “individually responsive ‘power laces'” that sense the foot and lace automatically – a concept first imagined in the film three decades ago.

However, the Nike Mags will be an extremely limited release – there will be fewer than 100 pairs available, which will all be the subject of a public raffle. Tickets for the raffle can be bought for $10, with all proceeds going to the MJFF to help find a cure for Parkinson’s. Find out more about both the shoe and the raffle here.
