Kristen Stewart and Sam Riley star in movie adaptation of Jack Kerouac novel
The first trailer for the big-screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s seminal, semi-autobiographical novel On The Road emerges online.
The movie, which stars British actor Sam Riley as Kerouac’s alter-ego Sal Paradise, Garret Hedlund as Dean Moriarty and Twilight’s Kristen Stewart as Dean’s wife Marylou, is directed by Walter Salles – the man behind ‘Motorcycle Diaries’.
On The Road follows young writer Sal and his free-loving friend Dean on a road trip across America with Marylou in tow.
The book is synonymous with the 50’s Beat Generation and is revered as one of the great American novels.
Kristen Stewart researched for the role by attending a month-long “beatnik boot camp” in Montreal, prior to filming.
At the time, she told MTV News: “There’s a huge education process that’s going to take place with the whole cast. It’s a small movie, so to have that much time is just awesome.”
The film also sees the return of British actor Sam Riley to the big screen. His breakthrough role came when he played Ian Curtis in the Joy Division bio-pic, Control.
