Original ‘Ghostbusters’ star Ernie Hudson shoots cameo for female-led reboot

Fellow original stars Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson have filmed cameos too

Ernie Hudson is to make a cameo appearance in the female-led Ghostbusters reboot.

The actor – who played Winston Zeddemore in the classic ’80s Ghostbusters movies – joins fellow original stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, who have also shot cameos for the reboot.

The reboot’s director Paul Feig confirmed that Hudson had joined the cast this Saturday for the final day of filming, after which Hudson tweeted a picture of himself on set with new Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

The new Ghostbusters movie is set for release on July 22, 2016. Paul Feig has revealed that Melissa McCarthy’s character, Abby Yates, will be the crew’s loose “leader” but insisted that the film will be an “ensemble piece”. Chris Hemsworth will play the Ghostbusters’ receptionist, while Saturday Night Live cast member Neil Casey has been cast as the main villain.

Andy Garcia, The Wire‘s Michael K. Williams, Saturday Night Live‘s Cecily Strong and Veep‘s Mike McLintock have also signed up for supporting roles. It has also been rumoured that Ozzy Osbourne might be making a guest appearance in the film in a scene set at a heavy metal concert.
