'Yes Man' and 'The Break-Up' director replaces Edgar Wright on Marvel title

Director Peyton Reed will replace Edgar Wright as director of Marvel’s Ant-Man, it has been confirmed.

Reed, whose credits include Yes Man and The Break-Up steps into the breach left by Wright, who departed the comic boo movie last month (May) having worked on the title since 2006. Reed will be assisted on the film’s script by Anchorman director, Adam McKay.

Both We Are The Millers director Rawson Marshall Thurber and McKay were reported to have declined offers to directed the film following Wright’s exit.

Wright officially left the feature film of the Marvel comic book hero in May with both director and studio issuing a joint statement confirming the move. It is believed that creative differences between director and studio are behind the split.

Ant-Man is due in cinemas in summer 2015 and stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas among others.
