Angelina Jolie, Jack Black and Seth Rogen are all reprising their roles from the first two movies
Rebel Wilson and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston have joined the cast of Kung Fu Panda 3.
Mads Mikkelsen, the star of NBC’s new Hannibal TV series, will also lend his voice to the sequel from DreamWorks Animation, THR reports. Angelina Jolie, Jack Black and Seth Rogen are all reprising their roles from the first two Kung Fu Panda movies.
DreamWorks Animation is keeping plot details for Kung Fu Panda 3 under wraps, but the studio has revealed that the sequel “follows Po, the chosen one, as he continues on his journey mastering the art of Kung Fu … and noodle slurping”.
Kung Fu Panda 3 will be directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who also directed the second film in the series. Released in 2011, Kung Fu Panda 2 took over $665 million (£433 million) at the box office worldwide – a shade more than the first film, which grossed around $630 million (£410 million) in 2008.
Kung Fu Panda 3 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 23, 2015. Meanwhile, other films in the works from DreamWorks Animation include How To Train Your Dragon 2, due June 2014, and Happy Smekday!, whose voice cast includes Rihanna and Jim Parsons. It’s set for release in November 2014.
