The sequel to 'Captain America: The First America' is scheduled for release in April 2014
Captain America: The First Avenger has apparently found its female lead.
According to Deadline, Emily VanCamp is “in talks” to star opposite Chris Evans in the superhero sequel. The Canadian actress, 26, currently stars in US TV show Revenge and has previously appeared in Everwood and Brothers & Sisters.
Hayley Atwell, who played the love interest in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, has recently confirmed that she will not be returning for the sequel. Downton Abbey star Jessica Findlay-Brown had been rumoured to be competing for the female lead, with Mad Men‘s Alison Brie and Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones also said to be in contention.
Marvel has scheduled Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier for release in April 2014, though it is unknown when filming will begin. Chris Evans will definitely be back as Steve Rogers aka Captain America alongside Sebastian Stan as Bucky and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.
Meanwhile, The Hurt Locker star Anthony Mackie has joined the cast as a fellow superhero called The Falcon. Speaking back in September (2012), Evans revealed that the sequel will shed further light on his character by including scenes cut from The Avengers.
