Ricky Gervais gets to perform a duet with Kermit the Frog in the new Muppets movie, songwriter Bret McKenzie has revealed.

Flight Of The Conchords star McKenzie wrote several original songs for 2011’s The Muppets, winning an Oscar for one of them, ‘Man Or Muppet’. He also has been working on tunes for the forthcoming sequel, Muppets Most Wanted, which stars Gervais and is due out next year.

“Ricky Gervais does a song with a green frog, and that was great because I don’t know if you know this, but Ricky Gervais was a singer in the ’80s. He was in a kind of Bowie type of band [short-lived new wave duo Seona Dancing],” McKenzie explained. “He’s got a really good singing voice so that was cool. It’s always fun when the actors come out and they can really sing.”

Muppets Most Wanted, which also stars Tina Fey and Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell, is set to open in cinemas on March 21, 2014. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch a teaser trailer.
