The Aussie actor co-stars as Jor-El, Superman's biological father
Russell Crowe has spoken out about new Superman movie, Man Of Steel, calling it “very complex”.
Directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), Man Of Steel stars British actor Henry Cavill as Clark Kent aka Superman. In recent interviews, Cavill has called Man Of Steel “less chocolate-box” than previous Superman movies. He has also promised a “realistic view” of the iconic character.
Crowe co-stars as Jor-El, Superman’s biological father. In a new interview with Reelz, Crowe echoed Cavill’s comments, revealing that Man Of Steel delves deeper into the superhero’s psyche.
Crowe explained: “It’s very complicated, it’s really complex. I don’t think anybody has really tried to get into the psychology of what it must be like to be Superman and what people would really respond like in a modern society if somebody like that just popped up.”
Crowe also praised the scale of Zack Snyder‘s movie, adding: “It’s a massive undertaking. It takes you on the ground to Krypton [and] it takes you to a planet where the sun is four times larger than ours… if you’ve seen the trailers, you realise that this Superman is not just floating through the air held up by a wire – this Superman is supersonic.”
The first full-length trailer appeared online last month (December 2012) – scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch it. Man Of Steel opens in cinemas worldwide on June 14 this year (2013).
