'Green Lantern' actor lined up for starring role in Scottish warrior film
Ryan Reynolds is reportedly the favourite to star in a reboot of the fantasy franchise Highlander.
The Green Lantern actor is being lined up to appear in the starring role in the film, but it is still unknown if Reynolds has received a formal offer to take up the position.
According to Variety Reynolds has emerged as the front-runner and both the actor and producers are “very interested in working together”. A source also told the website that Reynolds is weighing up other offers and could still pursue other projects.
It is believed that 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is on board to direct the reboot, but details of the plot of the new instalment are vague. However, Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway are currently working on the script.
The original, released in 1986 and starring Christopher Lambert, centred on an immortal Scottish swordsman who battles other immortal warriors through various centuries. Several sequels followed and a spin-off TV series.
