'Guardians of the Galaxy' star Chris Pratt is Princess Leia
Saturday Night Live parodied Star Wars in a spoof Marvel hero films trailer which featured on the show at the weekend.
Guardians Of The Galaxy star Chris Pratt hosted the latest edition of the long-running American television sketch show and appeared in the spoof as Princess Leia.
Poking fun at Marvel’s forthcoming Ant-Man adaptation starring Paul Rudd, the spoof trailer takes aim at Marvel’s seemingly endless production line of hero movies.
Taking the joke further and suggesting Marvel could make a film about anything and hit box-office paydirt, the sketch included mock first looks at future Marvel franchises including Bus People, Fancy Ghosts and Some Shopping Carts.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is America’s highest grossing film at the box office so far this year with over $280m (£168m). The film made £5m during its opening weekend in the UK.
Director James Gunn’s film follows a machine gun-toting raccoon called Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), a Vin Diesel-voiced tree whose catchphrase is “I am Groot”, WWE wrestler Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora and their leader, self-proclaimed “dude” Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), as they try to save the universe.
The film’s soundtrack features David Bowie’s ‘Moonage Daydream’, 10cc’s ‘I’m Not In Love’ and ‘Cherry Bomb’ by The Runaways. A sequel to the Marvel Comics adaptation has been announced for summer 2017.
Chris Pratt is currently filming the dinosaur adventure sequel Jurassic World.
