Sequel to ‘The Last Exorcism’ on the way

Damien Chazelle is on board to script

Directed by Daniel Stamm and presented by Eli Roth, the first outing of the low budget horror film told the tale of a faithless preacher who sets out to prove that exorcisms are bogus.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Damien Chazelle has been signed by Studio Canal to work out a script for the sequel. Chazelle’s credited work includes low-budget musical drama Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench.

The Last Exorcism took over $67 million (£40.6 million) worldwide from an estimated budget of $1.8 million (£1.09 million).

The originals film’s director Daniel Stamm has yet to direct another film since The Last Exorcism. It is unknown whether or not he will sign on for the sequel. Eli Roth is currently producing a number of films including horror flick Clown and ‘Eastern Western’ The Man with the Iron Fists with Wu-Tang Clan member RZA.
