Seth MacFarlane’s ‘American Dad!’ renewed for another two seasons

Animated hit revolving around the Smith family will remain on air until at least 2018

Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad! has been renewed for another two seasons.

Season 13 of American Dad! is due to debut on TBS early next year, but the cable network has now commissioned an additional two seasons, meaning the animated sitcom will remain on air until at least 2018. Seasons 14 and 15 will feature 22 new episodes apiece.

From this autumn, new seasons of American Dad! and MacFarlane’s other animated sitcoms Family Guy, The Cleveland Show and Bordertown will premiere in the UK on ITV2. American Dad! currently airs on FX and BBC Three in the UK.

After debuting on Fox in 2005, American Dad! remained on the network for its first 11 seasons, before moving to TBS for season 12, which ran from last October until this June.

The show follows the adventures of CIA agent Stan Smith, voiced by MacFarlane, and his family and housemates living in the fictional Virginia suburb of Langley Falls. The show’s cast includes Sir Patrick Stewart, who provides the voice of Stan Smith’s boss, Deputy Director Avery Bullock.
