The creator of 'Family Guy' and 'Ted' is hosting the awards bash next month
Host Seth MacFarlane has shot a Psycho-themed advert for this year’s Oscars – scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch it.
He begins the 30-second promo by saying: “I’m Seth MacFarlane and I’ll be hosting the Oscars this year, where we’ll be celebrating all your favourite films – like Psycho.” The advert then cuts to a clip from the infamous shower scene starring Janet Leigh, before MacFarlane adds his own twist to the Hitchcock classic.
This year’s Oscars take place on Sunday, February 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Family Guy creator MacFarlane was named as host back in October after Ted, which he wrote and directed, became one of last year’s biggest hits.
Because MacFarlane is hosting, Mark Wahlberg has recently revealed that he will be appearing with Ted at the ceremony. When asked whether Ted will refrain from “smoking a bong” beforehand, Wahlberg joked: “He can’t do it without it. It’s mandatory.”
This year’s Oscars ceremony will also feature Adele, who has confirmed that she will give the first ever live performance of her hit Bond theme ‘Skyfall’, which is favourite to win the best original song award.
