Seth Rogen and James Franco in red band trailer for ‘The Interview’ – watch

North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un will not be amused

Seth Rogen and James Franco amp up the rudeness in the new trailer for their comedy The Interview.

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un comes in for more stick in the latest look at a film set to do nothing for America’s relations with the military dictatorship.

In the red band trailer Franco’s talkshow host Dave Skylark is chasing stories about “Matthew McConaughey fucking a goat”. But his producer Aaron Rapoport (Rogen) is desperate to do proper news and protests, “Every night millions of people watch our show. I just wanna cover actual news, not just Nicki Minaj’s vagina fucking flopping out at the Grammys!”

But Rogen’s character gets more than he bargained for when the pair are granted an exclusive interview with Kim Jong-un and then recruited by the CIA to assassinate him.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the film is not as anticipated in North Korea as it is in America. Kim Myong-chol, executive director of the Centre for North Korea-U.S. Peace and an unofficial spokesman for the regime in Pyongyang, spoke out about the comedy in June.

“There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the U.S. government and American society,” he told the http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/10914088/North-Korea-slams-US-film-The-Interview-about-Kim-Jong-un.html“>Telegraph. “A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine,” he added. “And let us not forget who killed [President John F.] Kennedy – Americans. In fact, President Obama should be careful in case the US military wants to kill him as well.”

Also starring Lizzy Kaplan and Rob Lowe, The Interview is directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The pair also co-directed This is the End. The film is released in American cinemas over Christmas with a February 6 release date planned for the UK. Watch the red band trailer below.
