Sorry, ‘Back To The Future 4’ definitely isn’t happening

Nope, we're not returning to Hill Valley...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Back To The Future 4 definitely isn’t happening.

The unhappy clarification comes after a fake Facebook post went viral over the weekend, claiming that a fourth film had been secretly created last summer.

The post, which came from an unofficial Michael J Fox fan page, featured a photo of the Marty McFly star alongside Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown) and Lea Thompson (Marty’s mum).

In a caption accompanying the post, the Fox imposter claimed that the film was near completion – and that fans could expect to see it in cinemas pretty soon.

“We thought about [sic] for many years and we sarted [sic] shooting it last summer”, Fox’s imposter wrote.

“I’ll reveal the release date in a few days.”

But in reality, this couldn’t be any further from the truth.

Although the photo does feature all three together, it was taken at the 2015 London Comic Con where the trio reunited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Back to the Future.

The original Facebook post has since been deleted, although it definitely fooled quite a few people across social media.

“Top Gun 2 last week and now back to the future 4 confirmed!!! – life is getting pretty exciting at the moment”, one user wrote.

Another said: “MICHAEL J FOX JUST ANNOUNCED THAT THERE WILL BE A BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 4 I’M CRYING THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS I’VE EVER HEARD.”

Last year, it was revealed that Back To The Future very nearly had a totally different title.
